Bold Acts to Unleash the social sector

RISE Northwest Ohio PILOT PROGRAM

The Center for Community Impact is dedicated to transforming nonprofit services in rural communities. From addressing food insecurity and mental health, to strengthening care and housing systems, nonprofit organizations are leading the work that keeps rural communities resilient and thriving.  But too often, they are doing this work without the shared tools, systems, or infrastructure that could help them go further together. The Center is investing in initiatives that coordinate efforts and co-create shared systems, collaborative strategies, confidence and a collective sense of readiness that attracts financial investment and supports long-term sustainability and mission impact.

At the heart of this work is a core belief: coordinated collaboration is innovation; it’s THE way to make a greater impact, together. In Defiance, Henry, Lucas and Wood County, the Center for Community Impact has already begun bringing organizations together to identify duplication, share resources, and reimagine what is possible when they collaborate.

It’s also a commitment to readiness.  Often, rural organizations are seen as underdeveloped or too small to scale. The Center for Community Impact is challenging that perception. Through boot camps, technical assistance, and strategic planning, we are helping organizations build the capacity to secure and sustain investment. These organizations are being positioned to lead with measurable impact.

Equally important, the Center for Community Impact is reimagining how the sector sees itself. We are helping communities move away from outdated labels and limiting beliefs. The Center’s work is grounded in a clear and powerful position statement: rural communities are not only worthy but capable. They are worthy of investment, of trust, and of leading the way forward.  Harnessing lived experience, subject matter experts and passion, they are an unstoppable force for change.

WHAT RISE Northwest Ohio IS BUILDING

  • A Community Impact Fund to activate new regional giving, attract national investment, and support unrestricted capital for community-led solutions.
  • A Business-Building Boot Camp to strengthen financial strategy, infrastructure, and leadership across rural organizations.
  • A shared services ecosystem to reduce overhead, eliminate duplication, and amplify impact through collaboration.
  • A model of rural innovation rooted in community readiness, trust, and partnership that can be replicated in rural regions across the country.
