RISE Program

RISE Northwest Ohio

PILOT PROGRAM

Inspired by the documentary UnCharitable, directed by Stephen Gyllenhaal, which challenges conventional thinking about how the social sector should operate, Social Current launched Five & Rising, a bold national movement to unleash the social sector’s full power.

The social sector powers 12.5 million jobs – this represents 10% of the national workforce – the third largest sector employer. It contributes 5.2% to the GDP – that’s $1.4 trillion to the U.S. economy. Five & Rising works to unleash the sector’s full economic power and rewrite the rules for how it’s funded and valued. Five & Rising works with communities, like RISE Northwest Ohio to co-create systems that match the sector’s true scale and unleash its ability to deliver lasting impact.

The Center for Community Impact sponsors one of three inaugural pilot communities for the Five & Rising movement. Our program represents the bold ideas and deep engagement designed by the movement. We serve as proving grounds for scalable strategies that can transform how the social sector is funded, valued, and supported.

Support RISE

Your donation helps build a stronger, more resilient nonprofit ecosystem across Northwest Ohio. RISE equips local organizations with the tools, training, and networks they need to test new models, reduce duplication, close talent gaps, and make the case for unrestricted, sustained funding. It’s time to stop treating nonprofits like charity cases—and start investing in them as civic and economic engines of change.

RISE Northwest Ohio is fiscally sponsored by Do Good Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization (EIN 85-4368754). Donations are tax-deductible and restricted to our approved charitable activities.
